FAQ
Answers for animal welfare teams
A concise guide to Vet Vision AI: what we monitor, how rollout works, what happens to data, and when to speak to the team.
Getting Started
What is Vet Vision AI?
Vet Vision AI provides continuous welfare monitoring for animals. The platform observes barns and stables around the clock, turns behaviour into useful welfare signals, and helps the right person act sooner when something changes.
How does AI-driven monitoring enhance animal health and welfare?
Vet Vision AI gives welfare teams continuous insight into comfort and behaviour, including during the hidden hours when people are not present. This helps them understand whether animals are thriving and identify changes that deserve closer attention. Camera-based monitoring provides that 24/7 context without requiring individual animal wearables.
Dairy
Is Vet Vision AI for Dairy only for housed herds?
It is designed primarily for housed dairy herds, with flexible coverage for mixed systems, loafing areas, and seasonal shed use.
Do we have to watch footage ourselves?
No. The value is in behaviour data, trends, reports, and guidance. The system is designed to turn footage into decisions, not create another camera feed to monitor.
What does installation involve?
We start with a dairy assessment, map the shed, plan coverage, calibrate the view, and onboard the team around the reporting workflow.
Can it compare different sheds or farms?
Yes. Vet Vision AI is built to make comfort and behaviour trends easier to compare across groups, sheds, sites, and seasons.
Does this replace vets or stockmanship?
No. Vet Vision AI for Dairy gives farmers, teams, vets, and consultants better evidence between checks, so experienced people can make better decisions sooner.
Equine
What does Vet Vision AI monitor for horses?
Vet Vision AI monitors patterns in rest and sleep, eating and foraging, movement, activity, and daily routine. It helps teams understand what is normal for each horse and highlights changes that may deserve closer attention.
Do horses need to wear a device?
No. Vet Vision AI uses camera-based monitoring, so horses do not need individual wearables. The system observes behaviour in the stable and turns it into useful welfare context for the people caring for them.
Can Vet Vision AI monitor horses overnight?
Yes. Continuous monitoring provides context during the hours between routine checks, including overnight. This can help teams review whether a horse rested, ate, and moved as usual before the first morning round.
Do we have to watch camera footage ourselves?
No. Vet Vision AI turns footage into behaviour trends, alerts, and useful welfare context, so teams do not need to monitor another live camera feed.
Does Vet Vision AI replace vets or experienced yard staff?
No. It adds continuous behavioural context to routine observation and clinical judgement. Alerts and trends help experienced people decide when a horse needs a closer look; they do not replace veterinary diagnosis or hands-on care.
Technology
How easy is it to use?
Vet Vision AI offers portable and permanent solutions with a user-friendly interface accessible via desktop and mobile apps. Insights are available within 24 hours of installation without complex setup required.
Do I need to do any training to use Vet Vision AI technology?
No training is required. Insights are intuitive and easy to follow and complement existing expertise. CPD opportunities may be offered in the future.
How is Vet Vision AI technology different to other monitoring solutions on the market?
Vet Vision AI is built around animal welfare and veterinary insight. It provides continuous analysis of behaviour patterns that routine observation can miss, giving teams clearer evidence of comfort and welfare around the clock. Easily installed cameras and AI models developed by veterinary researchers provide that insight without requiring individual animal wearables.
Data & Privacy
How is my data used?
The technology focuses on animal welfare metrics. Users retain control over how data is shared and used in collaborative approaches between stakeholders.
How do I know the AI can be trusted?
Every model is tested on footage it has never seen during training, from animals and locations that were also never part of training. This is the strictest form of validation and means our accuracy figures reflect real-world performance. Models are benchmarked against expert veterinary assessment, and we monitor live performance after deployment. Your footage is stored securely, never sold, and only shared with your permission under UK GDPR compliant agreements.
Working with Vet Vision AI
How can Vet Vision AI help my vet practice or consultancy business?
Vet Vision AI generates in-depth objective analyses providing 1-2 hours worth of chargeable consultancy time per report. This creates new revenue streams and positions practices as technology-forward leaders in animal welfare.
